Teeth Whitening Gatineau
Teeth whitening is a cosmetic dental procedure designed to brighten the color of your teeth and reduce stains or discoloration caused by factors such as aging, certain medications, and lifestyle habits like drinking coffee, tea, or wine, as well as smoking. It is important to understand that whitening results are not permanent, and periodic maintenance treatments may be needed to preserve the desired shade.
We offer both in-office and at-home whitening options. In our clinic, the dental team often takes before-and-after photographs to monitor progress and clearly show the improvement in tooth shade throughout the treatment process.
In-office Teeth Whitening
This professional treatment provides fast and effective results, often lightening teeth by six to ten shades. A specially formulated light-activated whitening gel, typically containing hydrogen peroxide, is applied to the teeth. The procedure usually lasts between 30 and 90 minutes and may require more than one session to achieve the desired brightness.
Take-home Teeth Whitening
With this option, our dentists take an impression of your teeth to create custom-fitted whitening trays. You will receive a whitening gel (usually hydrogen peroxide-based) along with instructions on how to apply it safely. The trays are worn for a specified period each day. It is essential to follow the prescribed dosage carefully, as excessive use of whitening gel may lead to gum irritation.
Risks and Precautions
Both at-home and in-office whitening treatments may cause temporary tooth sensitivity in some patients. This sensitivity usually resolves within a few days after completing the treatment. Whitening procedures are not recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding individuals.
